The Season 4 finale followed Jade and Tabitha after they became trapped in the cavern of bones. By the end, Sophia had stolen every protective talisman and thrown them into the Farway Tree after meeting the Boy in White. The creative team has framed Season 5 as a planned conclusion, not a last-minute extension. In a joint statement cited by USA Today and Radio Times, creator John Griffin, showrunner Jeff Pinkner and director Jack Bender said the final season gives them the chance to finish the story.
